Happy New Year, Soulsters!
I hope that 2018 is an amazing year for you, because I am determined that it will be one for me. Why? Because it’s “Soul Goal” season! This post is really focused on three things:
- Identifying your strengths before you set new goals
- Putting SMART action items to those goals
- Having enthusiasm about each step of the process involved in obtaining your goals
We’ve talked about Soul Goals before, right? They are not dreams or wishes–but things you want to accomplish based on your strengths. Also, the best way to achieve your Soul Goals is to attach them to SMART action steps. Those of you who have experience in business development and management may be familiar with the ”SMART” concept. It is a framework to make your goals more concrete and attainable.
Here they are:
S is for Specific
M is for Measurable
A is for Actionable
R is for Reasonable
T is for Time-Based
As you continue with me on this journey to be the CEO of Your Soul, it’s important that you employ some strategies that business CEOs use to succeed in your own life. In fact, that’s the premise of the new workbook that I’m developing that will build on everything in my first book. It will be a hands-on, how-to guide to become the CEO of Your Soul. Stay tuned for more info on that in the coming months!
Now, SMART goals are a great example of a CEO tactic that can help you to thrive. I want you to commit to implementing these goals in your life. In fact, let’s do it together. Let’s write down what strengths we want to build on in 2018, organize our thoughts, and put a plan in place to make those things happen.
For me, this year I will have my own TV show. Yes, I’m going to put that out there! So how do I convert that from a goal into SMART action? Well, there are a few steps in this process. Creating a concept, a “sizzle reel,” and getting more on-camera opportunities would be some of them. I’m committed to understanding the process and hitting each item, one step at a time.
And that’s exactly what I want you to do this month. Write down your Soul Goals and truly understand the process of achieving them, and finally, you should enjoy the process. For example, I don’t just want a television show. I want to enjoy each of the steps that are required in order for that final goal to take place. I’m not going to be sitting around irritated or apathetic because somebody hasn’t picked my idea up yet. Enjoying the process is the ”secret sauce.”
I’m going to enjoy the process of putting my TV show together. I’m going to enjoy the process of appearing on television. That is the key to staying motivated every day and eventually making your Soul Goals real.
Got it? I’m going check back in on you next month. We’ll take a look at the things that have happened since the last time we talked, and get this year off to an incredible start together.
Come grow with me,
